Saint Emilion
Several families have succeeded each other at Château Lagrave; since 2012, I manage the estate with my parents.
Ideally exposed between the famous village of Saint-Emilion and the Pomerol vineyard, Château Lagrave has 9 hectares of vines.
The terroir is distinguished by the complexity of its soils, the alternation of gravelly sands on the surface, clays and iron deposits in the sub-soil, give the wine a wide aromatic palette. The average age of the vines in the vineyard is 25 years.
The chosen cultivation method adapts perfectly to our quality requirements:
Short pruning, limited fertilizer supply, controlled grass cutting, debudding and leaf stripping are all guarantees of quality.
Since 2018, we renovated the estate house into a “Gîte de France” labeled gîte.
With 3 bedrooms, it is available all year round for tourist rental.
CHATEAU LAGRAVE
Le premier
Saint-Emilion Grand Crus
GRAPES:
95% Merlot - 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
From a selection of plots, the vinification of our premier wine is entirely carried out in concrete vats.
The maceration lasts for about a month during which the alternation of pumping over, load shedding and punching down allows us to extract the maximum of the potential of the grapes.
This is followed by aging in French oak barrels of 225 litres and 400 litres with the aim to bring harmony, elegance and complexity.
Full-bodied with good length on the palate, the tannins are dense, silky and smooth. It is a wine for aging which should to be placed in a carafe, when drinking.
CHATEAU LAGRAVE
Le second

Second wine of the property, this cuvée benefits from the same attention as le Premier. Harvested at maturity, the grapes are vinified in concrete vats using traditional winemaking methods.
Fermentation lasts for about 20-25 days, followed by aging which is divided half in vats and half in French oak barrels.
The robe is dark garnet with purple reflections, the aroma is pleasant mixing ripe red and black fruits with a woody vanilla touch.
The mouth is supple, and generous, the aromas are expressed with a dominant of wood, without excess, this gives a complex and gourmet fruity wine.
